To the Muller Family, I'm so sorry to hear the news of your mom's passing. My mom, Pat Heikkila (nee Hunnakko) was one of your mom's oldest friends from the Beaches. I heard the news through their mutual friend, Barb Strelzow. What a lovely write-up about Janis. The mention of skipping 2 grades made me smile because my mom was always so proud of that too. Every Christmas, I enjoyed hearing of your annual updates in your family's newsletter - the Muller Times - so creative and fun to read. I started a similar tradition when my mom passed away in 2019. I remember your mom visiting our family cottage in 2010 when Barb was visiting as well. It was so nice to see a lifelong friendship still holding strong after so many years. I had a newborn baby that summer and Janis was so kind and loving, I have no doubt she was an amazing grandmother, and mother who is dearly missed. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Dear Krista, Elise, and John-Andrew. Your mother was one of my oldest and dearest friends. We played together as children when, in the early 1950's, our families both lived on Neville Park in the Toronto Beaches, and we maintained our friendship over our lifetimes. May the light of her gentle spirit shine on you always, and may her memory be a blessing.

My bff, Susie, has already posted a note about Mrs. Muller, our beloved teacher (1971-72).
Mrs. Muller was the absolute essence of warmth and beauty in my eyes! With a hairstyle and smile that rivalled Mary Tyler Moore, she wore the latest fashions and seemed so "grown up" to my six-year-old self! I can barely believe she would have been just 23 or so when we were in her class!
No doubt there are countless others whose school days were brighter because Mrs. Muller was their teacher.
I was so sorry to read of her passing, too soon. I´ve thought of her fondly over the years and am glad to read that she´d had a wonderful life. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

54 years ago Mrs. Muller was my grade 2 teacher in Toronto. I remember her warm welcoming smile and sparkling eyes. I met my best friend, Martha, in her class and we are still close friends today. Sending my condolences to Mrs. Muller´s family during this challenging time.

It is with great sorrow that I heard of the death of my friend Janis. We first met in our special class in grade 9 at Malvern Collegiate in 1960. A group of near a dozen of us from that class remained friends for the rest of ours lives getting together for lunches or theatre or any special occasion that arose. Each time we met it was like there had been no time between meetings. The love and friendship remained strong through the years. I will miss knowing that she walks this earth with me. My condolences to her family on her death.
