JEAN DOUVILLE Obituary
(1934 - 2025) It is with great sadness that the family of Jean E. Douville announces his passing on October 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Son of the late Rosaire Douville and the late Dolorès Gosselin, he is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lucille; his children, Charles (Lyne), Anne (Laurent), and Elizabeth (Sami); his grandchildren, Alexandre, Stéphanie, Caroline, Gabrielle, Neva, and Lucas; and his great-granddaughter, Charlotte. Jean also leaves behind his surviving siblings, Justin, Marie-Thérèse and Louise; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, colleagues, and former classmates. A man of exceptional character, Jean led a distinguished professional career. He began in the field of investment brokerage before holding strategic vice-presidential roles at Air Canada. He later became President of Nordair, and following its sale, co-founding partner of Schroder Ventures Canada, where he led several successful investments until his retirement. Jean's keen business acumen, integrity, and leadership earned him great respect in the business community. As an executive, investor, and builder of value, he served on numerous boards, including PSP Investments, Richelieu Hardware, Boralex Power Income Fund, and GBC Funds. A generous mentor, he inspired colleagues, friends, and family alike, embodying kindness and generosity throughout his life. Deeply committed to giving back to the community, Jean and Lucille established the Fonds Fondation Jean E. et Lucille Douville, in collaboration with the Foundation of Greater Montréal, to provide university scholarships to students in finance and mental health. A passionate wine enthusiast, Jean loved sharing his remarkable collection with family and friends. During a stay in Florida, he fell in love with the Country Club of Florida, where he and Lucille resided during the winter for 27 years, forming lasting friendships. There, he spent his days golfing, practicing photography, and enjoying an active social life. At the age of 84, he discovered a new passion for painting, and his artworks now grace the homes of those he loved. The family will receive condolences on November 21st, beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a ceremony at 5:00 p.m. and a reception at 6:00 p.m. at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Montréal. As an expression of sympathy, the family invites you to donate to one of the following organizations: Centraide of Greater Montréal, the CHUM Foundation, the CIUSSS West-Central Montréal Foundation, or the Fonds Fondation Jean E. et Lucille Douville via the Foundation of Greater Montréal.
