Jean-Francois CORBETT Obituary

JEAN-FRANCOIS CORBETT June 4th, 1976 - November 11th, 2021 It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic death of Jean-François on November 11, 2021. He leaves mourning in Denmark his adored children, Ludovic and Marilou and their mother Liv Berner; in Montreal, his parents, Dr. Michèle Moreau and Kevin Corbett, his beloved sister Isabelle (Frédéric Châtillon) and their children, Lévi, Sydney, Odil, Colin and Nellie Châtillon. He also leaves numerous other relatives, friends and colleagues: among them in Québec are Yannick Millette and Julie Savoie; in Toronto, Mark Ruschin; in Denmark, Peter Madsen, Morten Lindbergh Tonning and the members of the housing cooperative where he lived, also Lars Landberg Marie Dengnbu, Jim Bleeg, Anja Molgaard Vad, Jean-Thomas Meyer and the artists of the Christmas Cabaret; in England, Rich Whiting, and many others all over the world. From a very young age, Jean-François stood out because of his great intelligence and the ease with which he learned, discovered and invented. After obtaining an MSc in medical physics at McGill University, Jean-François did research on the treatment of prostate cancer with radiotherapy at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. From the year 2000, conscious of the impact of fossil fuels on the climate, he reoriented his career to study the physics of wind energy in Denmark. He obtained a doctorate from the Neils Bohr Institute of the University of Copenhagen for his thesis, A Fast Computer Model for Mean Wind Flow over Hills. He worked on the development of wind energy for Orsted, recognized as the most sustainable energy company in the world. Jean-François was intelligent, charismatic and fun-loving. He remained a simple and generous person all his life, as witnessed by the many testimonials that Isabelle has received since his passing. As well as French and English, JF spoke Danish and German. Jean-François loved music. He played the violin, piano, guitar, harmonica and accordion, which made our gatherings so much fun. The family will receive visitors at the Alfred Dallaire Funeral Memoria Home at 3254, rue de Bellechasse, Montréal, Québec H1X 1H8 on Sunday, December 5 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of Flowers, donations to Equiterre would be appreciated.
