Jeannie OSMAK Obituary

JEANNIE ANN OSMAK (1949-2022) It is with heavy hearts but the fondest of memories, that we raise a glass to Jeannie. Shortly after her 73rd birthday, Jeannie passed away on January 25, 2022, with her loving husband, Borden, by her side. Jeannie was the heart of our family, a role at which she excelled and one she relished. For over 50 years, Jeannie was a devoted wife to Borden, a confidante, and the driving force behind their many travel adventures. She was the loving mother and head cheerleader of Katrusha (Chris), Nicholas (Amy) and Evanka (Adam) and adoring Nama to her "do no wrong" grandchildren Elizabeth, Jack, Lauren, George and Blake. Jeannie's greatest pleasure was spending time with her family in Oakville, Hilton Head or abroad. She was a caring and attentive sister to her brother Bill. Jeannie was amazing. While she was content to garden, play sudoku and read about current events, she loved to be in the company of others. Moments with friends, whether it was gathering for meals, playing golf or engaging in a game of bridge would always bring a smile to her face. It is a testament to Jeannie's generous nature and her genuine interest in others, that she befriended people wherever she went. She was always the first person to laugh at a joke, even one at her own expense, no matter how corny. We will miss her hearty laugh and infectious smile the most. A private family funeral will be held at this time. As she would want, we will raise a glass and share a laugh at a celebration of Jeannie's life in the near future. We wish to thank all of the individuals that have provided support to Jeannie and the family as we navigated the impact of ALS on her life. In particular, we would like to thank Dr. Gladman, Barb Miller and Jenneca Herceg at the ALS Clinic at McMaster University Medical Centre. We would also like to thank the individuals from Community Care Access Centres, especially Michelle, Diane, Tracey and Sophie, who provided her with excellent care over these last few months. We would like to thank Father Walter Makarenko for presiding over the Christian burial service. For those that wish to do so, donations to either the ALS Society of Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Condolences and memories can be shared through www.Glenoaks.ca.

Borden,
Donna and I were sadden to hear of Jeannie's passing. You will have to go back to married students residents at U of Windsor to remember us. It was 1971 as I recall.
Jeannie and Donna worked at the Windsor city hall. There were some crazy stories about the shenanigans that went on there.
Those were good times.
We have wondered for some time now if it was your daughter on sportsnet. The network just finished sending their sympathies to Evanka for her mother's passing, they mentioned Jeannie's name.
We just wanted you to know we remember you and Jeannie as friends from the past.
Please accept our sympathy Keith and Donna Austin

Dear Borden and family, please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences on Jeanne's falling asleep in Our Lord God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She was a wonderful person and I enjoyed our meetings and playing golf at one of the charitable tournaments. May her memory be eternal!

Dear Borden & Family,
We were saddened to read about the passing of Jeannie from A.L.S.. My mother died from A.L.S. over 50 years ago and I can appreciate the agonizing times you must have endured. On a brighter note, we remember Jeannie as we attempted to satisfy her interior design requests. She was always a delight to work with. Please accept our condolences.

Saddened to see Jeannie's obituary in this mornings Globe. A remarkable woman, justly proud of her family and her Ukrainian roots and traditions.
My heart felt sympathy to the family; you are in my thoughts at this difficult time, and also in the minds of my four children Stephen, David, Lisa, and Michael. We have many fond memories of our 254 Ash Tree Way neighbor.

To Evanka and family...so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. With much time, the intense pain of losing a Mother/Wife/Grandmother will lessen. But the fond memories of cherished time together will live on forever.

This came as an unhappy surprise. Jeannie was that rare person who was able to make you feel that you were the only person she wanted to talk to. It felt good to be around her. I am sad that she is no longer "down the lane"
Our sincere condolences to you Borden, and to all the family
