JEFFREY COHEN Obituary

(April 28, 1952 – February 23, 2026) Jeffrey Cohen, writer, teacher, storyteller, and devoted father, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, CA. He was born on April 28, 1952, in Toronto, to Harry and Marcia Cohen. For a quarter of a century, Jeff wrote and co-wrote television series and TV films for multiple Canadian broadcasters, as well as for HBO, Fox, Showtime and other US cable stations. His work has generated twenty-two awards. His credits as a Head Writer and Story Editor can be found on his website: jeffcohenmemoirist.com Jeff taught screenwriting and guided actors in transforming their personal histories into structured narratives through his workshops held in Toronto, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. In later years, Jeff wrote Triptych: A Family Memoir, a tribute to his father, mother, and sister, Lisa-Catherine. Most importantly, he was a devoted father. His guidance was foundational in developing Ari's tennis ability and academic achievements and his support of Reuben's musical pursuits helped to shape Rueben's successful career as a Mastering Engineer. Jeff is also survived by his former wife, the mother of Reuben and Ariel, Deanna Cohen, and her husband, Sudama Mark Kennedy, with whom he had a close friendship.

To the Cohen family. I knew and loved Jeff when I met him when we were hosting a series called Drop In. He remained my friend and I´m just so sorry to hear that he has died. He was truly one of the good guys. My condolences to Ari and Reuben xox.
