Tribute to a true Canadian Pan-Africanist

I am deeply sorry to learn of Jeffrey's passing. Our paths have crossed several times; in each case, Jeff was an excellent mentor. We first met when he served as Executive Director of AER, and I was at the beginning of my professional career; he always found time to help me navigate the AERC research process. When I served as coordinator of the Dakar-based Industrial Policy Network, Jeff served as a co-lead evaluator of the Network, which fostered the enhanced integration of Francophones to make AERC a pan-African capacity-building institution that has become the premiere in evidence policy-making on the continent. In 2003, I was selected to launch the University of Toronto International Lawyers and Economists Against Poverty (ILEAP), an international NGO that effectively supported African and Caribbean countries in multilateral trade negotiations and the Economic Partnership Agreements between Europe and the Caribbean and Pacific countries.
I am grateful to this humanitarian man. RIP Jeff until we meet again.

Dear Sara, Lila, Eitan and Michelle,

We loved being with your parents, and had wonderful times together on family outings. It was wonderful for our kids growing up in Alta Vista together, sitting with your Dad and Moms while you were at swimming classes, music classes, and all the assorted activities that parents spend with their children. They will all be sorely missed. Love from Howard, Donna, Jess, Nathan, Cee and Dana
