(née Wells). Jen Snyder (née Wells), 89, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, Toronto, on August 26, 2025. Born in Twickenham, England, Jen grew up in India, England, and Zimbabwe, where she married her husband, Hugh, in 1961. Together, they raised four children - Dalene, Jacqui, Derek, and Tom - living in Africa before settling in Canada in 1970. Jen was a gifted artist, first a potter and later a painter, exhibiting throughout Toronto and at the McMichael Gallery. She was invited to join the Canadian Society of Artists, and supported emerging artists through scholarships and housing assistance. She also co-led Court Volunteer Support Services in Toronto for more than a decade, providing guidance to probationers. A raconteur with a sharp wit and love of storytelling, Jen cherished friendship and adventure. She traveled widely, sailed coasts from Desolation Sound to the Caribbean, skied with her beloved Skicousi group, and was renowned for her cooking - curries, paella, bouillabaisse, and world-class desserts. She is survived by Hugh, her four children, seven grandchildren, and many friends. A viewing will be held at Turner & Porter "Yorke" Chapel, 2357 Bloor St., Toronto (East of Jane at Windermere Ave.), on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until time of the Celebration of Jen's Life at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Neilson Park Creative Centre, 56 Neilson Dr., Etobicoke, ON M9C 1V7, Tel: 416-622-5294 Online condolences may be made at
