Jennifer STEPHEN Obituary

JENNIFER ELLEN STEPHEN Passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2023, at the age of 44. Jenn will be dearly missed by her parents, Jane and John; by her brothers, Geoff (Wendy) and Robert (Michael); by her nieces, Holly, Rebecca, and Rachel; and by her extended family and countless other friends and community members whose lives she has touched over the years. Born and raised in Burlington, she went on to pursue her undergraduate degree at the University of King's College in Halifax and her Master of Library & Information Science at the University of Western Ontario. She made a tremendous impact in her nearly two decades working with Vaughan Public Libraries where, as a guiding force and respected mentor, she created an atmosphere of cooperation, trust, and belonging for all. In 2021, as part of her dedication to social justice and inclusion, she completed a Master of Studies in Social Innovation from the University of Cambridge. She recently took on a new role as Director of Customer Experience at the Oakville Public Library, where in just a short time the effect of her compassionate, engaging, and visionary leadership had already been deeply felt. As a chorister and a former warden, she was an active and beloved member of the community of All Saints Kingsway Anglican Church. A devout lover of Jane Austen, Jenn was passionate about books, reading, and imagination. She always enjoyed exploring Europe whether on choir tour, backpacking as a student, or visiting family. Her friends and neighbours will remember her passion for gardening, her silly sense of humour, and her unparalleled kindness. Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333) on Friday, May 5, 2023 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place at All Saints Kingsway Anglican Church, 2850 Bloor Street W, Toronto on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to FoodShare Toronto, All Saints Kingsway, or the Charity of Your Choice, would be greatly appreciated. www.smithsfh.com

Jennifer and I were on an Awards committee together. She was funny, intelligent and always kept up with the reading! I am very sorry to hear this.
