Jessie CARYLL Obituary
CARYLL, Jessie May Jackson(1943-2017)
Our resilient Jessie Caryll passed away this weekend. Born in Ville Emard, Montreal on January 9 to May Elizabeth Jackson (nee Heaven) and John Robert (Bob) Jackson. Nurse, fencer, singer and community leader she brought guidance and compassion to many.
After starting out with her mother in a cold water flat Jessie met her father when she was three years old when he returned from serving The Black Watch (Royal Hightland Regiment).
Forging her own path she enrolled in Montreal's High School for Girls, then becoming a nurse at Montreal General. She found her way to Judaism and Toronto and started her own occupational health therapy business.
Jessie served as the leader of Outreach for the Canadian Council for Reform Judaism and was also a rabbinic aid.
Not one to let up she received a Sociology degree from York when in her 50's and after retiring became a fiber artist.
She is remembered and celebrated by her husband of 52 years, David Caryll, their daughter Brianna and her husband, Michael Valihora, and grandchildren Liam, Adrian, Grace and Max, her darling Judy Davidson, and her Chaverah.
