JESSIE HASSELL Obituary



JESSIE M. HASSELL (NEE SHORTREED) B.A., R.N. Suddenly on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre at the age of 86. Dearly beloved wife of Lloyd for 61 wonderful years. Sister-in-law of June (Doug) and the late Jack and Lorna Hassell. Predeceased by her sisters Irene and Helen. Loving aunt of Ian (Mireille), Heather (Robert), Derek (Elske), Jim (Ann), Doug (Martha), Margaret, David (Cindy), Jeff (Julie), Doug (Pamela) and the late Robert. Jessie will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, their families, and many, many friends. Graduate of Victoria College and the University of Toronto School of Nursing. From 1946-1966 she was a Public Health Nurse in the Village of Swansea (Toronto), 1966-1968 Assistant Director of Nursing Education at the Illinois Masonic Hospital, Chicago. 1968-1979, Nursing Instructor at the Quo Vadis School of Nursing Toronto. Long term volunteer for the Centres of Etobicoke and Peel. Jessie also spent many active years with the St. John's Ambulance Association. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter 'Peel' Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10 N. of QEW) from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, and 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Thursday, September 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph. If desired, donations to the Regional Health Centre of Peterborough, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
