Our beloved Joan passed peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at St. Joseph's Health Centre, in Toronto. Born October 31, 1944 (age 79), Joan was the treasured wife of the late Bill Gee. Joan was also a dear sister to Dr. Murray Trusler (Sharon); and was predeceased by their beloved sister, Mary Johnson (Kevin). Joan is survived by her nieces, Laura (Jonathan), Kate (Will), Leigh (Niall) and Susan (Vanderley); and nephews, Scott (Wendy) and Kenneth; her husband, Bill's children, Janice (Ray), Margo (Frank) and Bruce (Dana) as well as her many grandnieces and grandnephews. Joan was a dedicated teacher, who earned a Master's degree in Education. She specialized in teaching, students with special needs, who loved her dearly for her kindness, support, humour and compassion. From early childhood and throughout her life, Joan made, and always held close, her many friends and family. She was an accomplished golfer and tennis player, who was an active member of the Islington Golf Club, and a past member of the Boulevard Club. She had a great sense of humour and we will forever miss the "Daily Funnies" that brightened up our days. Joan and Bill spent many retirement years together, enjoying both world travels and their winter home in Naples, Florida, where the door was always open to their many friends and family. Joan's recent years were spent enjoying the companionship of her little canine companion, Toby, who never left her side. We wish to thank the hospital staff at St. Joseph's Health Centre, and the Sisters of St. Joseph for the kindness, caring and compassion they have faithfully provided to our family for more than 50 years. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. For those who wish, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto.
