It is with great sadness that the Hennessy Family announce the death of Joan Noreen Hennessy on November 20, 2009 at Markham Stouffville Hospital, Markham Ontario. Joan was the only daughter of the Late Col. Patrick Hennessy, DSO, MC, killed in the battle of Hong Kong December 20, 1941 and Ellen Dorothy Hennessy nee Robb. Joan was born on June 6, 1920 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Joan worked at the Connaught Laboratories and the Banting Institute, Faculty of Medicine, the University of Toronto. An avid sports woman, Joan excelled at curling at the Royal in Toronto, Life- long member at the Summit Golf Club and a Canadian Badminton Champion and was a member of the Carlton club (RCYC).
Joan is survived by her brother VADM Ralph L.. Hennessy (Diana) of Ottawa and her sister-in-law Mrs. Margaret Hennessy (the Late LCOL. Brian Hennessy) of Markham. Joan leaves one niece and six nephews across Canada.
At Joan's request there will be no service. No flowers. Please donate to a charity of your choice.
