Joan Elizabeth LICO

1934 - 2023

JOAN ELIZABETH LICO (née BUCCILLI) March 6, 1934 - July 11, 2023 Joan was born in Toronto and was the only child of Frances and John Buccilli. She was a lifelong Torontonian, first living in Little Italy and then spending her teenage and young adult years living in North Toronto. In the early 1960s, when her husband suggested they move to Scarborough, she resisted, but fell in love with a house and agreed to make the move to the burbs. Joan was very involved with her church, having managed Sunday school for a number of years at Holy Spirit Church. She also enjoyed gardening and, every year, could not wait for the warmer weather so she could enjoy working in the garden and spending time there while reading. Besides her parents, Joan is predeceased by her husband, C. James Lico (1986) and son, Paul (2019). She is survived by her daughter, Catherine, son, Steve and her beloved dog, Mia. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) on Thursday, July 20, starting at 10:00 a.m., with a service at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank the amazing staff and residents of McCowan Retirement Residence where Joan lived for five years and to the wonderful staff at Shepherd Village where she spent her final weeks.
