Joan MACRAE Obituary

MACRAE, Joan Margaret (nee Harris) of Gairloch, Scotland
Peacefully at home after a courageous and dignified fight against cancer, on August 13, 2006, Joan, nee Harris, of Big Sand, formerly of Achany Road, Dingwall. Beloved wife of Dr. Duncan Macrae, inspirational mother of Roderick, Duncan, Elizabeth, Sandy and Christopher and their spouses Harriet, Linda, Catherine and fiancée Aileen, mischievous grandmother, dearly loved aunt to many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and abroad, beloved sister of Caroline Andrews (Toronto), Mary Campbell (Winnipeg), the late Dick Harris (Toronto) and Julie McInnes (Winnipeg). A funeral service was held at the Church of Scotland, Gairloch on 18 August 2006. The family is extremely grateful for the many messages of sympathy and support received. They are a source of great comfort. We convey our heartfelt thanks to Rev. Derek Morrison for his kind words, George Macleod for his understanding and all friends and relatives who attended the funeral service. We would also like to record our gratitude for the tireless, selfless work of all the staff on Ward 4C, Raigmore Hospital. During Joan's final months, we received invaluable support from the Gairloch Medical Centre, district nurses, Marie Curie staff, friends and neighbours. Your efforts were a constant source of both strength and reassurance and we thank you all. You are a credit to the community. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to Christian Aid (PO Box 100, LONDON, SE1 7RT, UK) or Marie Curie House (29A Albany Street, EDINBURGH, EH1 3QN, UK).
