Joanne LECKY Obituary
Joanne Carolyn Lecky
Jan 18, 1973 - July 2, 2015
Our beloved Joanne Carolyn
Lecky, one of the strongest,
truest spirits one could know,
passed away on July 2, 2015
after a courageous battle with
cancer. Even as she fought
relentlessly, she carried herself
with incredible grace and
continued to be an amazing
support for those who loved her.
Joanne was not just a pretty
face; she was an extremely
sharp, intelligent and
accomplished woman. As a
dedicated student Joanne
excelled in her studies and
earned a BA in English Literature
from the University of Victoria
and a Masters of Library and
Information Studies from the
University of British Columbia
She then went on to a fulfilling
career as Director of e-
Technology, Library Research
and Information Services at
McCarthy Tétrault. Joanne's
drive for lifelong learning and
passion for gardening led her
become a Master Gardener, who
made everything she touched
come to life.
Of her many accomplishments,
her most cherished was the true
love and partnership she shared
with her devoted husband
Adam. Together with their dog
Ollie, they redefined the
meaning of family building a
beautiful home filled with love
and laughter. Although their
time together ended too soon,
Joanne and Adam shared more
love than many experience in
several lifetimes.
Jo's unwavering friendship
touched the lives of many. You
always achieved more, did
more, and laughed more with
Joanne around. Jo's bright spirit
had an enormous impact on
everyone she met. We are better
people having known Joanne
and we will continue to become
better people in her memory.
A service celebrating Joanne's
life will be held on Tuesday, July
7th at 6 p.m. in The VanDusen
Botanical Garden's Visitor Centre
Great Hall. In lieu of flowers, we
ask that you plant something in
Joanne's memory and let your
loved ones know what they
mean to you.
