JOCELYN RUBY Obituary
Died June 29, 2025, in Ottawa, in her 91st year. Daughter of the late Dr. Ralph Archibald and Margery Ruby, Jocelyn was born in Ottawa in 1934. She lived in many places, including Kemptville, Tilbury, London, Sarnia, Penticton, Barrie, Goderich, Toronto, and finally Ottawa. She was the proud and loving mother of Cub Lea and Anita Shrier (Les Landsberger). Loving sister of Dr. Ralph Ruby and his wife, the late Elizabeth Ruby (whom Jocelyn loved as a sister). Loving aunt of Geoff Ruby, Jill Ruby and Ellen Ruby (Marcel Drouin). Great-aunt of William Ruby. Survived by very dear friends, Larry Sargent, Pat Sargent and Cathy McDonald, among others. A former co-owner of Signal-Star Publishing of Goderich, Jocelyn served as president and board member of the Ontario Community Newspaper Association and on the board of the Canadian Community Newspaper Association. She also served on the boards of the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital and the women's shelter in Goderich. Jocelyn earned her accountant designation (CGA) while running a business and raising a family. After retirement, Jocelyn travelled widely and became an avid duplicate bridge player, achieving the Silver Life Master designation. She was a strong, formidable lady who loved good food and wine, good company and a game of cards. Jocelyn lived a long, full life and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa or Dying with Dignity would be appreciated.
