Jodi WHITE Obituary

JODI WHITE, C.M. Peacefully, in her 77th year, Jodi White passed away in Ottawa on February 10, 2024. She leaves behind her beloved sons, Tyler (Nicole) and Blake Hargreaves, and a vast array of friends she cherished. A trailblazer and role model to many, her love of Canada and dedication to its improvement drove her to a career at the highest levels of government, business and the non-profit sector. A visitation is planned from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 15th, and funeral and reception starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17th, all to occur at St. Bartholomew's Church in Ottawa. Donations in her memory should be directed to the North Hatley Library Association.

Condolences to her sons. Jodi was an important policy "influencer" before that word even existed. She was the consummate professional with high integrity, strategic insight tempered with a strong humane vision of what Canada could be....and, a wonderful sense of humor. Our contact diminished after I left Ottawa in 1990 but I remember her with fondness and admiration.

In fond memory of a great woman whom I was honoured to have as my Chief of Staff. The photo on this site captures her readiness to smile - either in a warm greeting or with her wonderful sense of humour- even in the bleakest circumstances .Jodi´s competence and passion to do good things have touched so many people and organizations, but anyone who believes in the value of democratic government owes a vote of thanks to Jodi. She was a consummate "mechanic of the machinery of government". When she served as Joe Clark´s Chief of Staff in External Affairs she was known as the best Chief of Staff on the Hill. In that role as well as in my PMO she was the first woman to be CoS. She was a role model and a mentor. Although our paths crossed only rarely over the past decades, we were always happy to greet and catch up. She continued to be a force for good- the kind of person who helps to feed your optimism in difficult times.
