Joe CALDERONE

JOE CALDERONE Joe Calderone passed away, at the age of 91 on November 3, 2023. He leaves behind his wife, Joan, married 63 years; his children, Joey, Jenifer (Dan) Simile and Julie (Frank) Avsenik. Cherished Papa Joe or PJ to his seven adoring grandchildren, Joseph (Bea), Juliana (Christian) and Jon-Anthony (Milena) Simile; Jason, Justin and Jessica Avsenik; and Jacob Calderone. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed the time that he spent with his grandchildren. He was never happier than the times he was surrounded by his entire family. Joe will be missed by his sisters-in-law, Marlene Gilmour and Anna (Alfie) Pierri. Joe was a visionary and entrepreneur. He took one shoe store and built it into a shoe empire. He travelled the world in search of fashion and made many lasting friendships along the way. He enjoyed sports of all kind, and was an avid golfer and member of St. George's G&CC. Joe will be missed by his many lifelong friends and golf buddies who affectionately called him "Joe Scarp." Joe's favourite cottage weekends were at Fallsview with Joan, where they developed many friendships from the US and Canada. Joe was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery beside his maternal grandparents. A celebration of life will occur on January 7, 2024, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Granite Club.
