John ANDERSON Obituary

John William Anderson
BASc, P.Eng.
   May 28, 1923 - June 30, 2014

Dear husband of Marjorie Leah
(Mardi) Anderson (nee MacIvor),
beloved father of Howard
(Carolyn Ryder) and Mimi
(Wolfgang Hofmann), proud
grandfather to Bronwyn and
Duncan. Brother to Margaret
Masters, and uncle to many
nieces and nephews.
   Predeceased by sisters, Mary
and Ruth, and parents, Andrew
and Irene Anderson.
John ('Jack' to the family) was
born in Toronto and grew up at
the Beach, attending Malvern
Collegiate. He studied chemical
engineering at the University of
Toronto, while serving in
wartime with the Royal Canadian
Navy Reserves. After graduating
with the class of 4T6, he
embarked on a long and
successful career with Lever
Brothers Limited. There he met
Mardi, and they were married in
1952. Together, they were active
members at Kew Beach United
Church in Toronto. Summers
were enjoyed at the family
cottage on 'Saug' near Loring,
and winter holidays on the ski
hills near Huntsville. After
retirement, Jack and Mardi
operated the Albury Shore B&B
near Carrying Place, living there
for twenty years before moving
to Kingston in 2007. Jack's
passions included restoring a
vintage Pierce Arrow
automobile, chasing steam
locomotives around the
countryside, canoeing northern
lakes, and participating in local
historical societies, but family
always came first. He and Mardi
broadened their education
through lifelong learning at
Queen's University.
   Family will be welcoming close
friends and family in Kingston to
celebrate Jack's life. Sincerest
thanks to the health care
professionals at Kingston
General and St. Mary's of the
Lake Hospitals. In lieu of flowers,
a donation to the charity of your
choice would be appreciated
