John ANTHONY Obituary

JOHN ALEXANDER ANTHONY July 16, 1935 - November 28, 2018 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our fabulous husband, Dad and Grandpa, John Anthony. He will be hugely missed by his beloved wife Gerry; his wonderful children, Peter (Louise), Rob (Alison), Janet (Ollie); and grandchildren, Damon and Calvin, Stuart and Ben, Isabel and Ella. John was a graduate of University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry (5T8). He established a successful dental practice where he enjoyed his work and patients for over 40 years. John taught at the U of T Faculty of Dentistry and held several positions at the Royal College of Dental Surgeons. He was President of the Anderson Study Club and a member of the International College of Dentists. Dad's greatest love was his beautiful cottage in Muskoka, most of which he built himself. His happiest moments were spending time there with family and friends, a legacy he has passed on to the next generation. When it was too cold to be in Muskoka, Gerry planned exciting trips. Together they experienced adventure, food and wine everywhere they went. John's motto was 'Work hard/Play hard'; he did both with boundless energy and positive thinking. Visitation will be held Tuesday December 4th, 7 - 9 p.m., Morley Bedford Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West. Memorial Service will take place Wednesday December 5th, 11 a.m., Grace Church on-the-Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road. Reception follows. In memory of John, donations to the Sprint Active Living Centre, 140 Merton Street, would be welcome.

Dear Gerri and families,
Our hearts are saddened at knowing of your great loss. Our thoughts and prayers surround all of you.
I was honoured to work with Dr. Anthony for 13 years at his dental office. Yes, indeed, he worked very hard. He was very dedicated to his commitments and his patients. But the love for his family was always first and foremost.
Frank and I, would always look forward to receiving Dr.John and Gerri's Christmas (photo) cards, they would give us a snapshot of their many wonderful travel adventures.
May your memories give you peace and comfort.
Sharing in sorrow.
With love and friendship,
Mary and Frank Sanzo

All of our sons said the same thing. "Uncle John was closest person to family other than a blood relative that the Munns had". Susan and Doug and Andrew and Kate will be there and Scott hopes to be there for the visitation. John was such a loving force in our lives and he always knew how much he meant to all of us. He was a true role model in so many ways. Sonnie and Norm
