JOHN BURNHAM BARTREM Passed away peacefully on Friday, August 13, 2021 in Oakville, Ontario having just celebrated his 90th birthday on July 27. Survived by his loving wife of more than 63 years, Bernice Bartrem, and sons Peter (Donna Wright), Blair (Karen Steele), Richard (Joan Walker) and daughter Jo-Anne (Mark Walker) and his grandchildren Sequoya (Ben), Keisha (Natalie), Mitch (Jen), Caroline, Kyra, Quinlan (Jess), Jared and great-grandchildren Bexley, and Fletcher. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews in Toronto, Barrie and Trinidad. John was predeceased by his brother Robert (Shirley) in 2000. Born in Montreal in 1931, John lived a full and productive life with a long career in both advertising and sales working in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. He was, for decades, a well-respected fixture of the broadcast radio communities in Ontario and Quebec. A lifelong baseball fan, John was first a fan and supporter of the Montreal Expos but placed his efforts behind the Toronto Blue Jays when he moved to Toronto in 1993. Many a road was travelled each spring to Palm Beach and Dunedin, Florida to catch Grapefruit League spring training. A private family service will be held in Toronto in September.
