JOHN CHARLES BUTLER February 7, 1949 January 25, 2022 John, 72, died of heart complications on January 25, 2022 at Mount Sinai Hospital, reluctantly leaving his heartbroken wife, Susan, after 44 years of marriage. John was a wonderful and caring person, world traveler, bibliophile, cinephile, trained sommelier, gourmet cook, esteemed teacher, Stephen Sondheim aficionado, joke-teller, and dog-lover (Tam and Molly). His hearty laugh filled the room and his gentle manner softened Susan's sometimes fiery nature. The day before he died, he asked Susan if the Oscar nominees had been announced and remembered a joke that she had made up.
