It is sad to hear of John's passing and with tremendous shock I write these few line. I remember John... young at heart and the zest and youthfulness he showed for life.
Think of canpar and you see John.

I did not know Mr.Cyopeck but I did know his son John for many years. As I read all these condolences I can see that the apple does not fall far from the tree. John Jr. too is a remarkable human being whom I know was very proud of his father. Time passes so quickly and our lives fill up with the everyday chores of life. Remember old friends, love family and take the time. No job,no amount of money, nothing material will ever be how others remember you in life. It is the care and love you share with others wholeheartedly that will make you a lasting memory in life and in death. John know my thoughts are with you. I hope you are doing well.

John was a "Very Special" person to everyone whose life he touched and everyone is, blessed and made, a better person to have known him.
Although John was President and CEO of Canpar Transport L.P. he always made you feel that you were on the same level that he was, regardless of what position you held within Canpar. I will always be amazed at how he was able to remember people by their first name , even if he only saw you once or twice a year. John was "one of a kind" who left his imprint on you and he always had a smile.
There are so many words to describe John's person - he was a leader with a vision, determined, thoughtful, caring, giving, loving, compassionate, positive, courageous, and in the past year "a person with a dream which came true." Put simply - "a person extraordinaire."
He had Faith, Hope and Love - but the greatest of these is "Love" - which he had for his "own personal family" as well as his "Canpar family."
John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Although we feel sorrow at this time, we have to be grateful that though John has left his earthly life, he now has eternal and everlasting life in heaven.
I know John would want us to rejoice that he is in his eternal home where there is no pain and suffering.
My sincere and heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to John's family and his many friends at this time. May the grace of God's love surround and bless each one of them with peace and understanding in, this, their time of sadness. Memories that we have of him will cling to our hearts forever - and that is one thing that can never be taken away from us, no matter what!
"Rest In Peace John"

May God comfort and give peace to Maureen and the family as you hold on to and cherish those precious memories.
The Bible says as "A man soweth so shall he reap" and by the outpour of each experience and encounter with John. He has sown the fruitful seed.
I will always remember him for the respect he showed me.Whenever I inquired of the family he would say
"Good" and how is your family?
Never too busy to acknowledge my greeting.
May be rest in peace.

My Friend John:
I met John about 16 years ago when CP Trucks spun off Canpar and John took the reins. I became counsel to Canpar and had the priviledge of working with and befriending John. I watched John resurrect Canpar and lead it to be the top of its class.
If we are lucky, we will be graced with having met a couple of truly great individuals.
I count John among the truly finest men that I have met. He was tough but fair and a great leader who stuck to his principles. Under his slightly gruff exterior was a kind heart and warm spirit full of charisma.
He lived a life of great personal and professional accomplishments.
To quote John, "not bad for a trucker who dropped out of school".
That's right John, not bad at all.
You will be missed my friend. Thank-you for all that you did for me. It has been my honour working with you and being your friend.

John was respected and admired by all who met him, and loved by those that knew him.
He had a vision for our company and the passion to see it through, he once said...
"I hope to be around long enough to assist in building the foundation we will need for the next 25 years and beyond, and I am so very proud of everyone at CANPAR"...
Well John, you did just that and we are all so very proud to have known you and you will be remembered fondly.
To Maureen and the rest of the Cyopeck family, our deepest sympathies in your moment of grief.

To the family of John Cyopek,
Our heartfelt wishes go out to you in your loss. Many of us have had to travel the same uninviting road. It is a trip that we wish on no one.
As a family at Canpar, we also feel the loss of not just a great man, but the savior of our company. Many of the employees in Winnipeg and Brandon have been here for more than twenty years and remember the good times and the hard ones. John lived his life by example. He “challenged” us in years past to strive to be number one and never quit, much like he “challenged” himself in the last months.
John never turned his deaf ear to us and never gave up. He had boundless energy and a disposition that was infectious and made us all better people for knowing him. We are proud to have had him lead us, and he is the reason that we here in Winnipeg and Brandon are proud to call ourselves Canpar employees.
From all the employees in Manitoba

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever beleives in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John Cyopeck, the CEO and the President of CANPAR Transport was the only such person who never minded me greeting and addressing him by his first name. In fact, his reply with his usual very assuring deep and welcoming voice made me feel like i was talking to a friend.
I always looked forward to his Christmasy greeting and firm handshake as he made the time to do that around the office, as well as his Christmas greeting letter. I will miss that this coming Christmas.
His sense of humor filled the Conference Board Room when he addressed a long term employee with CANPAR.
As he left us with so many good memories, surely he leaves more of himself with Maureen and the children.
My thoughts are with Maureen. Good memories keep us going.

In spite of the tremendous heights that John has reached in the trucking industry the thing that I will carry forward most about him was him ability to sit, eat and talk with anyone and always make them feel that they were on the same level that he was. His genuine interest in the thoughts, feelings and lives of the drivers was another quality in John's vast arsenal of qualities.

When I first joined the company, someone referred to John as 'El Presidente', seems appropriate in light of his disarming humour and charisma that made you forget his position in the company. John, I remember the first time we meet, many years ago. I was very nervous, to meet the big boss for the first time. I held my hand out and introducted myself as "John Cyopeck". Seeing how nervous I was you held out your hand and said it was great to meet me but said, thats my name.. You always had a special way of making everyone feel at ease.
You were always a "Great "Influance" a "Great Leader" and an even better person.

When I first met John I was immediately impressed with how accessible and open he was to each employee. At each meeting, he never failed to mention that every Canpar employee was "family" Many CEOs pay lip service to this idea of family, but few follow through with genuine actions.
The depth of John's caring and compassion resonated deeply within my own family, when John, having learned about my son Dan's own fight with cancer, made a special trip out to Calgary to visit with Dan last May. He continued to follow up with phone calls and emails right up until last week. It is not possible to put into words, how much his compassion has meant to our family.
Maureen and family, they truly broke the mold after John...
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you as we honor and pay tribute to this outstanding human being.

If wealth is measured by the quality of friends you keep and the lives you've touched, John was one of the richest men I was blessed to have known and loved.
John was many great things to so many people. He was a man of strength and conviction, a man of charity and vision, a man of great compassion, a man who was fiercely loyal to his friends, a man respected by all who met him but most of all, a man who loved like no other.
He lived a life of example and was happy to share all he learned. He loved to challenge others to be their best but not without putting his best foot forward first.
He always had the best interest of Canpar's employees and was so proud of their accomplishments. He revelled in their joy and cared for their well being.
He was a bright light for all to follow, leading by example, wearing his big heart on his sleeve at every turn.
Words can't adequately express the love and respect I have for my friend John. I will miss him big time!
My prayers go out to John's family and all those blessed enough to have called him friend. May God's grace bless them with the peace and joy of his memory and knowing he's moved on to a better place.
Rest in peace my friend.

The Boss, JC, Mr. Canpar and finally Mr. Cyopeck. I will always remember my special time's with John. I have had the honour of working with John since he was hired at Canpar. John never forgot about his Canpar Family. Always look forward to the birthday note, always asking how my sister was. The love he showed and his passion to succeed with this terrible disease has shown us all to always think positive. I will truly miss John and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

John has been an inspiration since I met him 14 years ago , he has been a very important man in my life and have changed my way to work , deal with people and the way I lived . As he probably did with many other people he opened my heart and soul to generosity and love , and will remain in my heart and soul for the rest of my life . You will never be forgotten . Love you forever.

To the friends and family of John, I would like to express my dear sympathy to you. As an employee of Canpar in Ottawa, I can say he was like a father figure to us all and we allways felt that he cared a lot about us and our wellbeing. John, I will miss you very much.

The world has lost a fine man in John Cyopeck. His inner strength in the face of the overwelming adversity of cancer should be an insperation to us all, friends and employees alike. John was a rare individual in today's business world. One that seemed to know every employee by name and genuinely cared about the health and well being of his "family" at Canpar. I am extremely proud to have known him and thankful to have had an opportunity to work for him. With sincerest sympathy for a life well lived.
