JOHN FISHER Obituary

John Mark Fisher passed away unexpectedly on October 1, 2024, at the age of 68. John was a vibrant and loving man whose passion for life and family was evident to all. Born and raised in Parry Sound, he enjoyed his time on Georgian Bay and the nearby lakes. Educated at the University of Toronto (BSc) and University of Western Ontario (MBA), John enjoyed a long and successful business career, co-founding DigiMap Data Services and DMTI Spatial, in the digital mapping sector. He was blessed with a probing intellect, a rare ability to master complex technical concepts and an innate curiosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His keen sense of humour and joyful laugh will long reverberate. He had a passion for travel, exotic beer, wine, cheese, Monty Python and politics, and a disdain for populists. John's greatest source of pride was his three children. They will cherish his memory and carry his love for them, always. Predeceased by his parents, Edward and Janet Fisher; John is survived by his loving wife, Diana Elder; his children, Althea, Emma and Adam Pitters-Fisher; first wife, Glenor Pitters; and his siblings, Adelyn Robertson, Ty Fisher (Karen Evans Fisher) and Matt Fisher (Maria Loukidelis). He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Visitation on October 26th at 11 a.m., with funeral service to follow at noon at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd., ON M4T 2V8. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontiéres (MSF) Canada would be greatly appreciated.

Diana and family,
My condolences on John's sudden passing. We grew up on the same street together in Parry Sound where I fondly remember how his family used to take me skiing and to other activities on many occasions. I have attached a photo from 1960 which portrays us as 4 year old friends hanging out at a pup tent in my back yard at 3 Belvedere Ave.

Unfortunately I am at my nephews wedding next weekend or I would attend the service.
