John Michael GAGE

John GAGE Obituary

John Michael Gage

Husband of Rosemarie Elizabeth Gage, died suddenly on July 4, 2016 while vacationing in Croatia.
It is with profound sadness that I announce the death of my best friend for 32 years, kindred spirit and better half, my beloved, Mike. He will be forever in my heart and I will miss him and his wise counsel each and every day.
Mike was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1943. He grew up in Oakville and attended Oakville Trafalgar High School, followed by the University of Western Ontario where he attained his Masters in Economics. We lived in Oakville until we retired to Vancouver Island, where we were blessed with 12 amazing years, filled with travel, sailing, hiking, harvesting our fruit crops, enjoying our pet poodle Max and many visits east to family. He found joy in making new friends in the west while never losing touch with those in the east. Our dream was to live in the western house we loved, until they carried us out together. But as Mike used to say: 'Life is capricious'. Alas, he was right.
Mike was a proud, dedicated and loving father and grandfather to his children, my children and all our grandchildren: Donna-Michelle, nee Gage, Rancoeur (Fabrice, Sebastien, Benjamin), Jon Gage (Marian, Olivia, Piper), Jeremy Drapkin (Emily, Abi, Kyle) and Jesse Drapkin. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Bill Gage and Peter Gage and their families as well as many extended family members and friends.
The family of Mike Gage would like to invite you to a Celebration of His Life that will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trafalgar Presbyterian Church, 354 Upper Middle Road East in Oakville, Ontario.
Should friends desire, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choosing.
