John HERDMAN Obituary
HERDMAN, Dr. John Phipps
Passed away April 4th, 2003, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born December 15, 1921 in London, England, John captained the Oxford rugby team where he graduated with a medical degree in surgery. The best day of his life happened on December 10, 1946 when he married his wife Sheila. They emigrated to Canada in 1953 where John was the Chief Surgeon at Sarnia General & Chairman of Lambton County Board of Education. John & Sheila moved to Vancouver where John completed his Masters in Hospital Administration and worked for the BC Government. John is deeply loved and missed by his loving wife of 56 years, Sheila, sister Patricia (Biddy), sons Johnny (Karen), Ricky (deceased) & Graham, daughter Caroline, his 4 grandchildren, Brook (Kevin), Amanda (TJ), Jeremy & Taylor and 2 great-grandchildren Skyla & Caleb. Sadness fills our hearts with the passing of our leader. While we are all proud of his medical achievements, we know his legacy lies within us
for he lived for his family. We are thankful for all his love, guidance & wisdom over the years which has made us the people we are today. As we move forward in our lives, we will spread his kindness on. Although we know he is in a better place
hopefully filled with chocolate
we will always miss his sense of humor & security that his love gave us. We love you Father.
