John KEYES Obituary

JOHN (Jack) WILLIAM KEYES 1932 - 2021 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a beloved Dad, Husband, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend John Keyes in his 89th year. Jack passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Saturday, January 2, 2021 after a battle with cancer. Jack will be greatly missed by his son Michael (Carol), Grandchildren David (Rebecca), Sarah, Christopher and Rose, Great-granddaughter Blair, former son-in-law Graeme Ross, Brother Father Edward Keyes, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his cherished wife Maureen, loving daughter Kathleen Anne, parents Joseph and Emily, brothers Ken, Richard, Vincent and sisters Helen, Mary and Margaret. Jack was born and raised in Gananoque, Ontario, the youngest of 8 children. In 1955 Jack graduated from the University of Ottawa and began his career with DuPont Canada. A year later, he married the great love of his life Maureen and they were happily married for 50 years until Maureen's passing. Early in Jack's career, Jack and Maureen moved to Montreal where he worked in the investment business, started their family and raised their two precious children Kathy and Michael. In 1991, Jack retired from RBC Dominion Securities where he was a Vice President and handled Institutional Sales. Jack and Maureen then moved back to much-loved Gananoque. Jack was blessed with a happy retirement where he enjoyed summers at the cottage on Hay Island and winters in Naples, Florida. He was an avid golfer and loved to play with friends at Smugglers Glen, Summerlea and Royal Palm golf clubs. Jack was hard working, very generous in supporting local hospitals and the church, endlessly energetic and kind - he made life better for everyone around him. He will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered. His family is very grateful for the incredible care he received from Dr Alex Maitland, Dr. Noss and the staff at Brockville and Kingston hospitals. Also, many thanks to the palliative care nurses and support workers for their kindness and care over the past number of weeks. And an extra special thanks to Diane, Jim, Frank and Margie who have helped the family out immensely. Due to current restrictions a private family interment will be held at St. John's Cemetery in Gananoque. A Memorial mass will be held at a later date at St. John's the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Dale Wright officiating. If you wish to make a donation in his memory, please do so to a charity of your choice. Online condolences please go to www.tompkinsfuneralhome.ca
