John KIME Obituary

JOHN JARED KIME & SUSAN LOUNT IRWIN KIME (WELLS) John Kime died peacefully on April 2, 2023 at University Hospital in London, a city that he loved and to which he devoted much of his professional life. He was the beloved husband of Susan Kime (née Wells); loving father of Charles and Nicole; dear brother of Grant Kime (deceased), Patti Hughes, Bill Kime, Mary Kime; and proud and loving Grandpa Cookie to Benicio, Alessandra and Carolina Kime. Born January 4, 1943, he was the son of the late Frederick and Anna Kime (née Grant). John and Susan shared a love of life, family, travel and cooking and were adored by their many friends for their easy going, fun and friendly natures. John attended Trinity College School and the University of Western Ontario. After working as an accountant for Clarkson Gordon in both Toronto and Paris, he returned to London where he was successful in modernizing the family accounting practice. For close to a decade, John led the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC), an organization which he helped found. His proudest career accomplishment was the work he did for the LEDC in attracting new business and investment to the city. He was also a past Director of Cancer Care Ontario and a past Chair of the Board of Directors of the London Convention Centre. Susan Kime died peacefully at home on April 3, 2023 shortly after losing her beloved husband of more than fifty years, John Kime. Loving mother of Charles and Nicole; dear sister of Carol Macfarlane; and proud and loving Grandma Cookie to Benicio, Alessandra and Carolina Kime. Born March 26, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Hon. Dalton and Kathleen Wells (née Irwin). Born and raised in Toronto, Susan attended Havergal College and the University of Toronto. She later studied at the Cordon Bleu in London, England where she honed her skills; Susan was an exceptionally talented cook and marvellous hostess. Always a lover of games, Susan became a competitive bridge player and spent many happy hours playing with friends at the London Hunt Club. Susan and John lived in Paris for a year after they were married. Of the many places they traveled, France always held a special place in their hearts and they returned there as often as they could. Susan sparkled wherever she went. She had countless friends for whom she could never do enough. She was kind, generous and notoriously fun. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. www.HarrisFuneralHome.ca

Dear Kime family: I am sorry to read that John and Sue have died. In Toronto, I knew them both before they were together, then together and then again when I lived in London for a short while. Both perfectly delightful friends at all times. I am happy to be reminded of long ago and very good times when we were all so young. Very best to you all, Janet
