JOHN ROGER MILLER LASH John Roger Miller Lash passed away peacefully on January 29, 2023, while the snow fell gently outside. His three children, Wendy (Peter), Jennifer (Art), Catherine (Stephen); and grandkids, Sophie, Ben, Molly, Dexter, Adelaide and Jane; will miss hearing him tell stories of his many adventures, including summers spent in Muskoka with his siblings, Penny and Tony, sailing in his beloved Georgian Bay, and snowboarding at Craigleith Ski Club. John was an independent man, charting his own course through his career writing computer software and as a silkscreen artist. He embraced nature, always looking to feel the sun on his face, watch the wind, and revel in the beauty of a sunset. John married Jane Lash and lived in New York, Sarnia, and Toronto. When he moved to Collingwood, he built a life with Dorothy Merner, who sought the same adventures as him, including their sailing journey through all five Great Lakes. John had a competitive edge, racing his sailboat at the Thornbury Yacht Club and winning his last snowboard medal at age 82. A celebration of life will be held in April. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Broad Reach Canada and help kids learn the joy of sailing (
