LYNCH, Father John D. (Jack) S.J.
At René Goupil House (Jesuit Infirmary) Pickering, Ontario on Saturday August 18, 2012, in his 90th year and 66th year as a member of the Society of Jesus. John was born in Halifax, NS, the son of Duncan Lynch and Teresa Downing. After schooling at Saint Mary's High School and Nova Scotia Technical College he entered the Society at Guelph on October 14, 1946. In 1964, John embarked on a varied ministry in the Province, teaching and chaplaincy administration and pastoral ministry. In 1974 he began his long ministry to the native people of Northern Ontario: Sagamok, Little Current, Beardmore, Goulais and Garden River. Increasing frailty brought about a move to the infirmary at Pickering in 2008. Visitation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday August 21st at St. Ignatius Chapel, Manresa-Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Centre, Liverpool Road North, Pickering ON. Prayer service at 8 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 22nd , 2012 at St. Ignatius Chapel Manresa-Jesuit Spiritual Renewal Centre, Liverpool Road North, Pickering ON. Interment in the Jesuit Cemetery, Guelph, ON Wednesday August 22nd, at 2:30 p.m. In memory of Father Lynch, donations may be made to the Jesuit Development Office, 43 Queen's Park Crescent East, Toronto, Ontario, M5S 2 C3.
