LYNDON, John (Jack) Lawrence Charles, Palgrave, Ontario
After a short and dignified battle with cancer, Jack peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends on August 2nd, 2003. Jack is survived by his wife and love of 28 years, Jane (nee Mackie), and children Greg (Tookta) Lyndon, Toronto, Ontario; Dr. Charlene Lyndon, Calgary, Alberta; Bruce (Jeanne) Kennedy, Sherwood Park, Alberta; Ian (Ingrid) Kennedy, Calgary, Alberta; Jaci Lyndon, Calgary, Alberta; Jane Ayn (Paul) Lisowyk, Alliston, Ontario. Jack, also known as Grandpa, Pops and Poppa, will be missed by grandchildren, Garnet, Chloe, Kryssa, Rebecca, Cooper, Foster, Scott, Joel, Ben, and Charlie. He was predeceased by grandchildren Chloe Sarah and Christopher. Jack, son of Brigade Major Charles and Chloe Lyndon, was born on May 5th, 1934 and raised in Edmonton with his sister Anne (Peter) Lema. Jack's love of hockey took him to Europe as a goalie in the late 1950's. After time overseas, travelling and playing hockey, Jack returned to his studies and graduated from the University of Alberta law school in 1961. He articled with Clement Parlee and was called to the Alberta Bar in 1962. After 2 years with Clement Parlee, Jack moved to Toronto in 1965 to join National Trust and then the TSE as V.P. of Market Operations. In 1972, Jack then joined Cochran Murray. Jack returned to his hometown of Edmonton as Deputy Minister of Consumer and Corporate Affairs under the Premiership of Peter Lougheed. Never one to turn down a challenge, Jack and family returned to Toronto in 1978 for a new position as President and CEO of the Insurance Bureau of Canada. Friends and colleagues will remember Jack as a man of integrity, diversity and charm. He never forgot a face or name and cherished his close friends and hobbies. Jack and Jane's favourite pastimes throughout retirement have been Carriage Driving and judging shows throughout the world. The happiness in the lives and marriage of Jack and Jane resonates throughout the extended Lyndon family. Jane and family would like to express deep thanks and gratitude to the nurses at F Wing, Headwaters Health Care Centre. A special thank you to Dr. Gord Willans for his outstanding respect and care of our husband and father.
