JOHN McCABE Obituary
Born in Windsor, October 10, 1960; on December 16, 2025, died suddenly, at home, of natural causes. Predeceased by his parents, Dr. Philip McCabe and Mary Dawson McCabe (Dawson); and sister, Katherine "Kate" Anne McCabe (February 20, 2024). Survived by Dr. John and Kitty McCabe's children, Lee, Sheila, Mary Louise (Birdie), Philip, Kathleen, and Norah; and cousins of the Dawson family and the Peabody family. He will be missed by his best friends and second family: Douglas and Beverly Benson; as well as Brad Claseys and Mary Dumontier, and many other dear friends. John loved his feline niece, Dawsie, and his step-canine, Jack. John grew up in Tecumseh, with a few years in Port Hope. He worked at Hotel Dieu Hospital, and most of his adult life at Magna Integram; and retired at the age of 64. John love to travel. In his twenties, he spent a year in Tokyo getting his Black Belt in Aikido. He spent time in Mont Tremblant, Quebec, acquiring the skills of a race car driver. He became a skilled survivalist through many seasons with Outward Bound. John was a motorcycle enthusiast and would ride his red Ducati and later, his BMW, through the winding roads of Haliburton and the east coast of Canada. He would frequently show up unannounced at friends and relatives all over Ontario and Michigan. "He was born to ride." Cremation has taken place. Interment at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to your favourite charity.
