John MCDONNELL Obituary
MCDONNELL, John James
On Sunday, June 8th, at 4 p.m.,
the world lost one of its most
special souls. It is with great
sadness that we announce the
passing of John James
McDonnell.
Adoring husband to Karen
Breslin, loving father to Lonnie
McDonnell, Ali Budd and Josh
Budd, amazingly fun grandfather
to Joey Budd, beloved brother
to Sharon Mitchell and the late
Beryl Hurst, brother-in-law of
Howard and Denise Gold,
awesome friend to Hirschy,
walker of Jackson and Benson
James, and proud owner of one
incredible moustache.
John lived a full, dynamic, and
stimulating life spanning
continents and careers. He was
from a certain class of men this
obituary writer can only aspire to
reach. He found success in love
and business, but his greatest
legacy can be found in those
with the privilege to know him
He touched countless lives,
many by intent but many more
just by being the thoughtful,
generous, kind-hearted person
that he was.
Above all, John loved his family
Cars, gardening, and butter tarts
come a close second. He was
happiest at his cottage,
surrounded by his loved ones,
knees stained from soil, sitting
on the deck during cocktail hour
and absorbing the lake and its
marvels.
We hope he finds that same
peace during his next journey.
A memorial service will be held
in the chapel at the Mount
Pleasant Visitation Centre 375
Mount Pleasant Road (east gate
entrance). Wednesday , June 11,
2014 at 1:30 p.m.
Family and friends are invited to
gather and visit the family at 62
Marmion Ave in Toronto on
Thursday and Friday after 1 p.m.
The family requests any
donations be made to Baycrest
Palliative Care 416-785-2500.
