McLEAN, John Dunbar ACSC (Artist, retired 44 year employee of Kodak Canada, wounded in first- wave assault on Normandy, June 6, 1944 as QOR of C officer)
Suddenly on November 14th, 2008 in Oakville, Ontario in his 89th year. John was the dear husband of Maud Jocelyn (Smart) nee Hicks, who died November 18, 2008; father of Keith Dunbar (Beth) of Toronto; Derek John (Wendy) of Winnipeg; James McRae of Toronto (Gianetta Baril of Calgary). Grandad of Ian and Neil; Fraser (Andrea), Gregory, Mark and Jocelyn; Celia, Jonathan, Michael and Joseph. Great grandad of Kaely. Brother of Mary McLean, Toronto. Predeceased by brother William Ernest McLean of Pawling, New York. A private family funeral has been held. A memorial service and reception for John and Maud will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Aidan's Anglican Church, where John was active as a lay reader and former church warden. He was awarded the Order of Niagara. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Aidan's Church, 318 Queen Mary Dr., Oakville, ON, L6K 3L6 or the Community of the Sisters of the Church, 1392 Hazelton Blvd., Burlington, ON L7P 4V3 would be appreciated.
