MOWAT, John Rittenhouse
Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, January 29, 2004 following a brief illness. John was the much loved son of the late Anna and Bert Mowat and is survived by his sister Mary and her husband H.P. Gilbert. John was a native son of Acton who will long be remembered for his 'greetings and salutations', as well as his many acts of kindness to others, which were recognized through the Acton Community Champion Award. John was also selected as the first Honourary Mayor of Acton. Friends will be received at the MacKinnon Family Funeral Home 'Shoemaker Chapel' 55 Mill Street East, Acton on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Edward Bellsmith at Trinity United Church, 70 Mill Street East, Acton at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, February 4th, 2004. The interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Remembrances to Trinity United Church, 70 Mill St. E., Acton, L7J 1H3 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

I remember him when I was a child, I admired him. He greeted everyone he met and that inspired me as a young child to be kind.
