MURRAY, John Whitridge

John W. Murray was born September 11, 1920, and died at home in London surrounded by loving family on July 14, 2015.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Hassel) in 1986; by his brother, Kenneth; and sister, Catherine (Newton). He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Colleen Shepard whom he married in 2005; and by his children, Mr. Justice John C. Murray (Barbara) of Caledon, On., Anne Messenger (David) of Richmond, Va., and Dr. Kenneth A. Murray (Judy) of Winnipeg, Man. 'Gramps' will also be missed by his ten grandchildren all of whom have a special place in their hearts for him, by his ten great- grandchildren, by his nieces and nephews, by his friends, and, in many cases, by the children of his friends and by his children's friends.
After his retirement from Labatt Brewing Co., John enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling and enjoying his golf. He had a life long passion for reading and was always ready to discuss a recently read book. His interest in current affairs never diminished. He had a marvellous sense of humour and enjoyed telling a story or sharing a joke.
He will be remembered by his family as a man whose life was characterized by love of family and by unwavering support and dedication. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a bright, witty, charming, gentle and kind man. He was also a man of principle who always wanted to do the right thing - whether at home or in business.
For his family, John W. Murray was and is a man to love and to emulate.
The funeral service will be conducted at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 280 St. James St. at Wellington, London On., on Saturday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m., with visitation preceding in the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
