John NAYLOR Obituary
JOHN ROBERT NAYLOR 'Bob, J.R.' October 8, 1928 - February 1, 2018 Son of Jack and Lillian. Predeceased by brother, Bill and sister, Mary (Larry). Survived by sister-in-law, Dorothy, and nieces and nephews Eric, Ann, Mark, Lisa, Craig, Jim, Judy, Susan, John. Born and raised in Essex, ON, he lived most of his life in Toronto, immersing himself in a myriad of its cultural offerings. Bob was drawn to beauty and found it in music, flowers, art, architecture, and the teachings of the world's major religious traditions. He loved languages and travel and their capacity to deepen his understanding of the world. Always striving to make the world more habitable, J. R.'s knowledge and passion were evident in his frequent challenging of development initiatives he believed were contrary to the common good. Bob was eccentric. To know him was to encounter integrity, generosity, persistence, loyalty, curiosity, and love of life. J.R.'s family is grateful to the Scott Music Library at York University for decades of being community and home for him.
