John ORGILL Obituary

ORGILL, John Tyrrell
It is with much sadness that the family of Jack Orgill announce his death on Sunday, July 4, 1999 at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital in Kingston. Jack was born in 1915 in Hamilton and grew up in Toronto. It was there, at Oakwood Collegiate, that he met Helen Nelles Burnham. She invited him to a Sadie Hawkins dance and went on to become his wife of 50 years until her death in 1991. Together they raised four children. Jack, a graduate of Trinity College at U of T and longtime employee of Dupont of Canada, thoroughly enjoyed life, including his lengthy involvement with sailing and Scottish country dancing. The friends he made through his work and interests enriched his life. Through his humour and enthusiasm he enriched ours. Jack is survived by his children, Margaret Kean (Douglas), Elizabeth Hamacher (Carl), David Orgill (Susan) and Katherine Orgill (Bruce Scott); and by nine grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Reg. His family would like to thank all the friends who supported him following the death of Helen and the staff on Floor 3 South of St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital for the wonderful care they gave him in his final years. Friends will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (Counter Street and Highway 2) on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service at St. Thomas' Anglican Church (130 Lakeview Avenue, Reddendale) on Wednesday, July 7, 1999 at 2 p.m. Cremation and Interment Cataraqui Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to Providence Continuing Care Centre Foundation, St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
