OSBORNE, John Edward Easton (Jack)
JOHN EDWARD EASTON (JACK) OSBORNE M.A., D.H.A (RETIRED, NATIONAL HEALTH & WELFARE) Jack left us peacefully to be with the Lord on the 11th day of December, 2007, at the age of 85. He was the proud and loving father of Peter Osborne (Rachel DeCuypere) and Mary Osborne (Andrew Bird) of Ottawa, and loving stepfather of Kathleen Johnson (Stephen Cock) of Ottawa and Carol Morrow of NS. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Nicholas and Zachary Bird, Christine and Michael Cock, and Melissa and Rob Morrow. Born in Hamilton, ON in 1922, son of the late Edward B. Osborne and Mary Easton of Beamsville, ON, he is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Osborne of Beamsville and Janet Hayes of Sidney, BC, his niece Jennifer Douglas (James) and family of Chelsea, QC, sister-inlaw Hilda Archer of Cowansville, QC, and many other nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his first wife Carolyn Balestreri Archer in 1975 and his second wife Shirley Ann Shepard in 2001. He served as a Lieutenant during World War II. He graduated from McMaster University (Economics 1943) and University of Toronto (M.A. 1946 and Hospital Administration 1960). He worked for the Government of Canada, Department of Health and Welfare from 1951 to 1985. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair and McGarry on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 6pm to 9pm. Funeral service will be held at St. David & St. Martin Presbyterian Church (444 St. Laurent Blvd.), of which he was an Elder, at 11:00 on Friday, Dec. 14. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute, the Shepherds of Good Hope, Christie Lake Community Centres, or St. David & St. Martin Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
