John PARKER Obituary
JOHN M. PARKER John Mervyn Dawson Parker aged 88 years of North York, ON., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, surrounded by his loving family; wife, Lynn; daughters, Gillian and Jacqueline; and granddaughters, Erika, Gillian and Michelle. John was born in London, England, to Alys (Reid) and Cecil Parker. During the war, John and his sister, Lyn (deceased), moved from London to live with relatives in Exeter. He attended Highgate School in London, where he was keenly involved in the school's Air Cadet program. John followed his passion for aviation into the RAF and trained as a Navigator. John immigrated to Canada in 1954, working for Spartan Air Services, mapping northern Ontario and Manitoba. John utilized his knack for numbers, working hard during evenings toward an accounting degree and achieving his CGA designation. John's success in the accounting profession grew as he served on numerous committees. He became National President of the Certified General Accountants Association and later served as Toronto President of the Financial Executives Institute. John rose to the position of Senior Vice President at AON before retiring in 1995. His retirement was short-lived as he joined the Redemptorists as their Comptroller, a position he enjoyed for 11 years until his 'second' and final retirement. John's love was first and foremost, his family. Aviation however, remained his passion throughout his life. He was an avid private pilot and loved the feeling of open skies. A Celebration of John's Life will take place at the Canadian Forces College Armour Heights Officer's Mess, 215 Yonge Blvd., North York, ON, on December 11, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
