JOHN CHRISTIAN PFLUEGER October 22, 1929 - Westfield, New Jersey, USA May 10, 2022 - Calgary, Alberta John Christian Pflueger, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in his 93rd year, in Rockyview Hospital, Calgary. John was born in 1929 in New Jersey. He spent his childhood in Florida, where his longstanding love of the natural world began with tree-snail collecting in the Everglades with his father. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from Lehigh University, Pennsylvania, he joined Geophysical Service Inc. (Dallas) in 1951 and began his adventurous and challenging career in the early days of the oil business. He worked in the Middle East and the Far East and began a lifelong love of geophysics and of travel. In 1970 John joined International Geophysical Consultants Ltd. in Calgary and became president in 1971. He continued to enjoy international work and was proud that his family accompanied him on his international postings in England, Fiji, and Bolivia. He loved living on an acreage in Bragg Creek with his family and assorted farm animals. In retirement John and Lyn travelled extensively. In his 80's John built three bridges on his acreage, farmed trout and enjoyed his family and friends. Among them his smoked trout was a favorite. He was the cherished husband of 56 years of Lyn; loving father to John Jr. and his wife Shari, Michael, Patricia, Christian and Melissa; and his grandchildren, Maddie, Jeffrey, Caemlyn, Willow, Jack, and Meryn.
