I am so very sorry to belatedly hear of John's death from CIM. I first met John in 1974 when working as a young engineer at Strathcona Mine of Falconbridge when he would come to chat with Les Dunks, my boss. Subsequently, John and I both worked for Harrison Bradford in St. Catharines on the Strait of Belle Isle Tunnel Crossing project. While there, I helped him build a backyard patio. When that work ended, John joined David S. Robertson and Associates where he did the financial assessment for nationalization of Saskatchewan potash industry and was engaged on the expansion of Denison Mines in Elliot Lake, where I worked after Harrison Bradford. When John began his mineral resources/reserves work for CIM, he did me the honor of asking for my comments and later when I wrote Technical Reports for Western Potash he again honored me by telling the company President that he could depend on my work -- high praise from THE expert. We stayed in contact almost to the end. My sincerest condolences to Trish and Kristen and their families. John, you will be greatly missed. RIP

Rest easy John. Know that every day I do my best to apply what you taught me. Your experience and kindness helped a young engineer's confidence and for that I will be forever grateful.

Very sad news indeed. Will be well remembered. Always cheerful and welcoming to me, quick with a joke and a good laugh. In all the years I knew and worked with him, I never heard him utter an angry word.

Deepest sympathies to John´s family and friends.
John was a life-long friend of my father, George, collaborating at work and play, likely getting up to no good! They expanded their net to loop in my husband, Marc, with various fishing trips and fun times. They certainly fished together, mined together, shared stories together, and enjoyed some whiskey together. I think my dad and John are now reunited and will not waste any time picking up where they left off.
John will be dearly missed. May memories of his humour and wit bring a fond smile.
Our condolences,
Samantha Espley and Marc Boudreau
