John REEKIE Obituary

JOHN FRASER REEKIE John Fraser Reekie, aged 79, passed away quietly at Cummer Lodge, Toronto on Thursday, November 3, 2022 from the complications of COPD and Alzheimer's Disease. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Allan. John was brought up in Barbados and always considered himself a Bajan. He attended Bristol School of Art, U.K. He graduated with a degree in graphic design. Shortly afterwards he immigrated to Toronto where he worked as a graphic designer. He was a longtime member of the National Yacht Club. He was a steady volunteer on the launch and haul out crew. An avid sailor and racer, he was crew on Amapola, Papagena, Soulmender and bow man on Marauder. Sadly, John lived much of his life with bipolar illness. He was happiest when sailing in the Caribbean. He will be remembered by Margaret and Colin Baxter, Eleanor and George Farkass, Susan Cartwright, Elizabeth Johnston, Rick Crouse, Rod McCormack, Karen Chandler Mark Anderson, and members of the National Yacht Club. Many thanks to the very caring staff of 4South at Cummer Lodge and Dr. D. Zeldin.
