(1935 - 2025) John Douglas Stewart, age 89, passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on August 28, 2025, at the Maison soins palliatifs Vaudreuil Soulanges, Hudson, Quebec. John was predeceased by his wife, Christine (1996). He leaves behind to celebrate his life and miss him terribly: daughters, Heather (Eric) and Anne (Nick); grandchildren, Sean (SW1), Erika (Pudding), Olivia (Pussycat), and Jake; and numerous friends of whom so many were like family. We would like to thank the wonderful team at Sunrise DDO, who treated dad with care, dignity and respect. We would like to thank the Lakeshore General Hospital for supporting us through a very difficult time, and of course, the wonderful staff at the Maison Libella (Maison soins palliatifs Vaudreuil Soulanges) for providing the comforts of home and a peaceful and dignified end of life for John. John was a proud Royal Bank pensioner, having worked 41 years before taking his retirement in 1994. His family and many friends were his greatest joy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Voluntas Funeral Home (
Voluntas.ca). The funeral will take place October 4, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 13140 rue Monk, Pierrefonds, Quebec H8Z1T6. John would say: travel, eat well, stay informed, spend time with family and buy Royal Bank stocks. Old Royal Bankers never die, they just lose interest! Donations can be made in his name to Maison de soins palliatifs Vaudreuil Soulanges (
mspvs.org) or the Canadian Arthritis Foundation (
arthritis.ca).
