STRATTON, John R.
In his seventieth year, at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2001 after a lengthy illness. Born in Toronto, the only child of James Reginald Stratton and Florence Olga Stratton (née Tough). Retired Professor of Philosophy at Ryerson Polytechnic University and a highly regarded expert on and collector of early classical vocal recordings, his great passion in life and a subject on which he wrote extensively. He will be remembered and missed by his many friends and his cousins. Private funeral arrangements. Memorial service at a later date. No flowers please. Donations may be made in his memory to the Coronary Care Unit of St. Michael's Hospital, 33 Bond Street, Toronto M5B 1W8 or to the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto, Edward Johnson Building, Toronto M5S 2C5.
