Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. My mother Clara Kuzik (Agopsowicz) who passed away in 1988 was John's first cousin. We were proud to watch his many shows over the years and he always reminded my of the grandfather, John Agopsowicz (my mother's dad)

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you & your family & friends at this time. My mother Helen Traverse(nee Agopsowicz),who presently lives in Vernon, B.C., was John's first cousin. Our family was also very proud of John's accomplishments. I actually had the pleasure of meeting John several years ago in Zehner, Sask., while he was up here filming a documentary about his life.

Mr. Vernon was a connsumate actor and truly kind man. In total contrast to his imposing looks and voice.
I had the privledge of meeting him some years ago at USC where he participated in a panel celebrating the work of Alfred Hitchcock. A reception followed the Q&A and I spoke with Mr. Vernon about his films. As others approached, he seemed awed that so many had been touched by his roles. He charmed everyone with the tale of seeing himself onscreen in "A Special Day", wherin his legendary voice was dubbed by an someone with a disticntly HIGHER tone. At the end, he said he was surprised that no one had even mentioned Animal House!
One moment I'll never forget: Also on the panel was Martin Landau. I'll never forget Mr. Vernon saying "Hey Marty, this is a long way from Mission Impossible" Landau, at the time in the middle of a comback, didn't even glance his way. I could see Mr. Vernon was hurt by the snub. However, at that monment Pat Hitchcock, the director's daughter, swept down the aisle to Mr. Vernon. "John Vernon," she said, "I've always wanted to meet you! You were a particular favorite of my father. He never got tired of watching your work, and he enjoyed working with you. He loved your eyes." Mr. Vernon was visibly moved by the moment. As I walked away, I saw Martin Landau lingering near Ms. Hitchcock trying to get her attention to no avail. She was engrossed, like everyone else that evening, in conversation with a true gentleman.
Mr. Vernon will be sorely missed as he was breed alone. His work, however, will continue to thrill audiences for the ages.

My brother Desmond and I were sorry to hear of John's(Vernon's) passing. We knew John (Vern) since 'way back since when we lived in the same house in Regina on Halifax Steet about 1937-38. Our condolences to Ernie and all of John's family. We were all happy to see Vernon become a great success.
He made the world a better place by his presence and the sharing of his great gift to us all.

John Vernon was a Canadian Icon. Even though I never met the man, he was my measure of what a man could become. As a young lad of 7, I was heavily influenced by his role as Wojek, (Wojek was a coroner, but I was too young to realize this). I grew up wanting to become a lawyer just like John Vernon. This led me to develop a suspicious mean streak, ready to explode at a moments notice. My stern poker face, which I display to my kids, is, I’m sure, also patterned off of Wojek.
John's ruggedness personified the hard work his forefathers endured to settle in Saskatchewan, in 1891. He was a self-made man from humble roots, and triumphed in his life’s passion.
Yesterday, while filming "Waking Walter" on location at the Agopsowicz farm in New Sarepta, Director Dean Bennett, held a moment of silence to honor John Vernon Agopsowicz.
My sincere condolences to John’s family and friends, and heartfelt sorrow to all the actors in Canada and USA that mourn his passing.

Hello - our heartfelt thoughts go out to your family. My daughter and I only heard the news this morning and even though we know so little of each other, we often thought of your dad in hopes we would again meet him someday. Take care and God bless.
