Dr Wherrett was my supervisor for longitudinal clinics and subsequently my mentor when i joined the university Faculty. I share many fond memories with Dr Wherrett - he shared many clinical pearls with me in neurology, many wonderful stories of patients that he learned from. He not only stimulated my interest and academic knowledge in this field, but i enjoyed the human experience of a dedicated physician, where he was a role model for me. I got to know his family and his introduction to me of the Booth Rock trail in Algonquin. I will always cherish those moments of a kind professor, a compassionate physician and a humble scholar.

Condolences to the family, I was a resident in neurology in Toronto and studied under him when he was on staff and later a colleague of John when he and I took up treating Alzheimer's and dementia clinics. I remember him fondly, his quiet wisdom and integrity, good advice and knowledge

I´m so sorry to hear of John´s death. He was the sweetest, most considerate, interested man. I could immediately understand why Aunt Pitt fell for him, having so adamantly refused to entertain any other man after her first husband died.
I am glad he had a happy third inning.

I am so saddened by this news. We met John through Ann McGee. He was incredibly kind, intelligent, and had so much empathy. He was so easy to talk to and so reasonable. Jose and I don't think we have ever met someone quite like him. We called him "Saint John."

He will be sorely missed.
