WYRE, John
Passed peacefully away on October 31, 2006 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, NL, aged 65 years. He was predeceased by his father Ross Wyre, mother Edna Sprunger Wyre, and sister Rebecca Edmiston of Apple Creek,Ohio, John was a former timpanist of the Toronto Symphony and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, director of World Drums, one of the founding members of the percussion ensemble Nexus, and composer and teacher. After moving to St. John's he taught at the Memorial University School of Music. He is survived by his wife Jean Donelson Wyre, of St. John's; sister-in-law Elizabeth Marx of Sarasota; and niece and cousin in Ohio. Cremation has taken place. A memorial tribute will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's, NL.
