July 26, 1944 – March 26, 2025 Joe Vaughan died at Mount Sinai Hospital on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025 with Angus Anderson, his loving spouse of 28 years, at his side. Joe lived with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis for a number of years without ever letting it dampen his joie de vivre. He is the son of J. Bryan and Dorothy (née Truax) Vaughan and is predeceased by siblings Michael, Seanna Ross, Steven, Tim and brother-in-law Charles Ross. Joe is survived by Angus Anderson, Alan (Karen) Vaughan, Julie (Michael Sharpe), and sisters-in-law Patricia Vaughan, Joan Shirriff Vaughan and Carol Anderson. His remaining family, including many nieces and nephews, and his longstanding friends will greatly miss him. Joe graduated from UTS and Waterloo Lutheran (Laurier) University. He worked at Price Waterhouse, TD Bank and Royal Lepage. Then he and Howard Freeman, (Howie, Joe's best friend of over fifty years), started Wakefield Realty Corporation in 1977 where he was an active partner until his death and was widely respected in the Toronto real estate world. Joe was a gentleman, a friend par excellence, a welcoming host and it was always a great pleasure to spend an evening in his company. He was a connoisseur of Canadian painting and sculpture, and followed arts and culture in general. Cremation has taken place and at Joe's request, there will be no funeral service. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Donations in Joe's memory can be made to Sinai Health Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care (
