Suddenly, on April 28, 1999, Joseph ;Joe Foreman, age 63, of Sarnia. Beloved husband of Sylvia (Hall). Dear father of Michael and his wife Dominique, Lisa and Jonathan. Loving grandfather of Lara, Rachel and Mitchell. Brother of Peter and his wife Vera of Mississauga. Uncle of Donald, Peter, Paul and Laura. Lovingly remembered by Gloria (Fowlkes) Wiebe. Mother of Michael and Lisa. Predeceased by parents Donald and Reta, and brother Tom. Joseph Frederick Foreman was born on May 19, 1935 in East York, Ontario. He attended St. Michael's High School in Toronto. He earned a full track and field scholarship to the University of Notre Dame, graduating with a degree in journalism in 1959. He attended the University of Toronto Law School and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1965. He was a member of Canada's 1956 Olympic track and field team, competing in the 100m, 200m, and 4 x 100m relay. He was also an avid golfer who managed to earn a hole in one. He argued two cases at the Supreme Court of Canada in 1967, winning both and changing the law of the land. He was named to the Queen's Counsel in 1977. He was also very active in politics, managing three campaigns for Charlie Turner, who ultimately held a position in the Senate. In the 1988 federal election, Foreman was the Liberal candidate for the Sarnia-Lambton riding. Joe Foreman was the most giving and generous man. He would give anything he had to those in need. He always loved the underdog and sought to improve their lives. He was an accomplished and aggressive criminal and family lawyer who earned the deep respect of his family and his peers. He was very deeply loved by all those who knew him. We will miss him. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 North Christina Street, Sarnia, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, where prayers will be offered at 7 p.m. Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Michael's Church, Bright's Grove. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia.
